Another fantastic LWR season comes to a close

We’re delighted to release the final standings for the two LWR 2017 Leagues! You can read the final TT league standings over on the TT results page, and the Crit/RR League standings on this results page here. There are also a couple of special prizes for most improved and best junior rider, announced on the Crit/RR League standings page. Make sure you come along on the 21st July to the PRIZE-GIVING AND END OF LEAGUE PARTY, 7-9pm at Rapha Spitalfields. What follows is a reflection on the 2017 leagues, from LWR chair Beth Hodge:

Another fabulous season of LWR draws to a close! It’s been wonderful to receive such great feedback from members new and old.

whole gangThe introduction of the TT league under the LWR banner following on from the success of SEWTTS, I think we will all agree, has been a roaring success and has encouraged many members to not only have a go at TT’s, but be incredibly competitive in so doing. The TT league was so successful thanks to the incredible hard work and passion from Julie and Kathryn (and of course Cooper the dog!). It didn’t just involve organising the league but also lobbying for equality on a wider scale.

IMG_8223The 3rd Crit and road league was also competitive with good fields at each race. As always thanks to the fantastic support from our race organisers who this year made us feel very welcome, thanks for your ongoing commitment to furthering women’s racing. It’s also been great to see an increase in support from BC with a special mention to Simon Bedford.

As always, thanks to our incredible sponsors, the prize stash has again been epic, and a real motivator!

And finally a special thanks to the volunteer committee and helpers Hannah, Jane, Alex, JC, Libby, Kathryn, Julie, Huw and Viv for all your time, hard work and commitment and making sure LWR happens for everyone.

Looking towards 2018, I will be stepping down as Chair of LWR and will shortly be posting a shout out for volunteers, including details of what each role entails. Do drop me a line now if you think you might want to be involved or come to our party and we can chat there.

More on all this soon and I do hope you can join us to celebrate this year and our prizewinners, and chat all things bike on Friday 21st July, kindly hosted by the gang at Rapha Spitalfields.
